How the numbers are calculated
AMI tier: We estimate your area median income percentage from your household size and state median income (adjusted via HUD's household-size factors). For metro-specific AMI, check HUD's official lookup before applying.
HEAR rebates: ≤80% AMI households receive 100% of project cost up to the program cap. 80–150% AMI receive 50% of project cost up to the cap. Above 150% AMI households are not HEAR-eligible — but state and utility programs may still apply.
Payback: Net cost (after rebates) divided by typical annual energy savings, scaled by your state's average electricity rate vs. the national average. Real-world payback varies with your current heating fuel, home envelope, and usage patterns.
